Words and Thoughts from Grandma

100 Day “Pay it Forward” Challenge

November 2, 2019 by Cathy Winkle

On Monday, November 18, we will be posting our 100th devotional blog.  I am so thankful for the encouragement you have all been to me as I have waded through some unfamiliar waters, attempting to leave a legacy for my grandchildren.  I have given much thought to how to celebrate 100 days, and I believe God has impressed upon me to challenge YOU to use the opportunity to encourage someone in your sphere of influence.

Pay it forward originated in contract law concerning loans.   The creditor offered the debtor an option of paying a debt forward to a third person instead of paying back the original creditor.  Payments could be monetary or by good deeds, repaying the kindness to others instead of the original benefactor.  I have determined to celebrate 100 days of blogging and all that God has taught me by passing Christ’s love and compassion on to someone else, encouraging a fellow brother or sister, even if in a small way.  God has already placed someone on my heart and I am excited about the prospect of being their personal cheerleader on that day.  Would you consider joining me?  Could you ask God to lay someone on your heart, perhaps a discouraged Christian, an overwhelmed student, a faithful pastor, an overlooked servant of Christ, a fainting family member, or a suffering saint, and would you take that day, November 18th, and reach out to them in some tangible way.  Perhaps you could send them a note, take them to lunch, bring them a dessert, share some time with them via a phone call, or send them an unexpected gift.

Christ has given all for us, so in appreciation to Him, let’s help someone “run with patience the race that is set before” them.  Let’s be their cheerleader on November 18th!  PLEASE prayerfully consider joining me on Pay it Forward Day; let’s make the world a bit kinder through a simple act of love.

I Thessalonians 5:11   Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.
